Jamie
StylistI’m a relaxed, chatty fashion lover living in Eira. As a teenager, I used to dye and cut my own hair because I couldn’t find a hairdresser who could handle my very thick and curly hair. I used to live in Greece, and whenever I visited home in Helsinki, I would go to the Q Hair salon in Kamppi and see Kaisa as my stylist. Kaisa knew how to work with my curls and could lighten my hair in a way that kept it shiny and beautiful. Inspired by Kaisa’s work, I applied to become a hairdressing student and started my studies in 2018. I graduated in the spring of 2019. I ended up in this profession because I love helping people feel beautiful and confident. The best part is seeing the satisfied look on a client’s face when they fall in love with their new hair.
In addition to traveling, I get inspiration from street fashion, movies, TV series, celebrities, fashion shows, and social media. I follow different trends and explore various cultures. Every client is unique, and their personality, life situation, or wishes give me new ideas.

I love making people feel beautiful. What I enjoy most is the creativity of the job, and my strengths include highlighting techniques, especially balayage, as well as working with very curly hair.
It’s incredibly rewarding to help someone feel good in their own skin. As a hairdresser, you have the chance to do that every day—whether it’s a confidence-boosting haircut or a beautiful style.

Junior StylistI have two cats and always have a little twinkle in the corner of my eye. I’m a creative type who enjoys doing things with my hands. I was a visual craftsman in my first profession, but I’ve never liked being in front of a computer. I happened to come across an advertisement for Unika Hairdressing School and thought that this field combines many of my strengths, and I wasn’t wrong.
I get inspiration from subcultures, high cultures and everything in between, from Tornio Market to Paris Fashion Week in terms of style. I’m inspired by people’s different styles, wishes, hair quality and hair challenges.
What I like most about my job is when you see the vision come alive and finished. Different highlighting techniques resonate, I like to think about light and shadow, contrast and tones. I like to do knife cuts that emphasize the natural texture of the hair. I really like giving hair styling and care tips and helping you get more out of your hair.

Junior StylistI am originally from Mikkeli. After that I have lived in Tampere until I moved to Helsinki a couple of years ago. As a child I wanted to be a hairdresser, and I did everyone’s hair whenever I could. After high school I took a couple of years off and was already thinking about going into a completely different field, until one of my hairdressers told me about Unika Hairdressing School. I sent my application there the same day, and here we are.
I get the most inspiration from social media, training and the people around me.
I love the versatility of this job and the fact that I can see the results right away. I also get a lot of joy from making customers feel beautiful and happy after their visit.

StylistWhere are you from, and how did you get into this field?
I live in Punavuori and am an art-loving outgoing person with a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from an international institution. I became a hairdresser after switching careers as an adult. I felt I had achieved enough in my previous field, and being a hairdresser was my childhood dream. I changed careers, and I haven’t regretted it for a single day.
I’m laid-back and social, and I do my best so that every client feels comfortable in my chair.
Where do you find inspiration?
I closely follow trends and always try to bring the latest techniques into my work. I also find inspiration from my clients, each of whom has their own story.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
What I love most are the daily encounters with my clients and the chance to create something new for each one. I enjoy doing coloring, highlights, hairdos, makeup, and especially hair extensions, which are my true passion.
I love being a hairdresser and feel that I’m in my dream job, where I get to create with my hands. As a hairdresser, I can create art. It’s important to me to make my clients’ dreams come true and to help them feel beautiful.

StylistAfter graduating from upper secondary school, I missed practical and creative work. I had already dreamed of being a hairstylist and decided to move to Helsinki and apply to Unika’s hairdressing school.
I am an esthetician who is inspired by his surroundings. I find the biggest inspiration in fashion, trends and people.
In my work, I like coloring and lightening the most. Whether they are bright blondes, flashy colors or rich and dark. When it comes to haircuts I like long and short styles, but I consider long hair and its soft layering to be my strength.

Art Director – Photographer – FilmmakerI live in Helsinki. As a young boy I was always doing everyone’s hair and it was natural for me to start studying it. Later I also studied photography and now I’m doing that along with working as a hair stylist. I’m combining my two passions photography and being a hairstylist and I photograph a lot of marketing materials for Q Hair, too.
I get inspiration from all around me and I follow the industry and I’m interested in knowing what’s happening there.
I love doing every kind of works. Specially I like interacting with the customers and giving them joy and new style.

Partner, Salon Owner – Salon ManagerI live in Järvenpää and I got strongly carried away with hair styling already in school. Among working in a salon I’ve been able to work in fashion shows, photoshoots and tv-shows. Three national victories have also brought international success in hair styling competitions.
I get inspiration from all around me. Hair fashion changes all the time and it’s really inspiring.
I love working with people and my specialty in hair dyeing is natural colourings with nice nuances. I also do hairdos for celebration and everyday life.
